A
wonderful moment in time to reminisce ~ the day was brisk; the sky sunny,
cloudless, and free of distraction. I walked down the gravel incline beyond the
posted cautions, to rendezvous with an emerald green quarry lake. Hints of submerged cliffs lay in the gossamer
hues of the waters depths, counterpoint to their cousins looming over the pool
in colossal vertical uncut sheets of limestone.
Exposed by men's endeavors from decades past, they stood a silent vigil.
Looming as eternal sentinels; idle boredom possessed while seasons erode shorn
edges into more sublime curves of natures design; absence of stark
angles.

Volunteer birch and poplar's waved remaining copper hued leaves in the intermittent breeze that scooped up stillness on express runs towards the waiting pined foothills that were vanguards to the Great Smokey Mountains. Silence was born in such places. A sanctuary of still natural dignity that did not vie for attention; nor demonstrate concerned effort for approval. A simple being present was the offered invite; into the bosom of family in natures balance.
In my solemn respite I was cloaked in protective gratitude for the gift of silence; not the quiet of the tomb, but of the calm essence and stillness of harmonious life; soft whisper of encouragement invited me to join the universal chorus that continues free without limits. Such a state rekindled the divine music in the recesses of my soul; substance of rapture. In that moment a word echoed in my heart, overwhelming any seduction to thought;
Savor.As compensation for my footfalls whose resounding echoes danced along the far walls of my ancestor’s interventions, I was delivered an emotional homecoming – this unmarked on any calendar, a thanksgiving celebration. A distinct impression of welcome descended, at ease, to reap the abundance of joy; encouraged to carry all I needed~ there were no fees. Yes –aware in the moment to practice a bit of magic in living.
