Our challenge with expectations
is a gift of sorts; one inviting us to examine if our reality is that of illusion
or based upon actuality. Truth, that which we have learned or proven to
be true according to our experience, is created by our interpretations (of what
we know, what we have known to be the case in similar situations, and what had been taught to us by those we
respect and/or have proven trustworthy to us in the past.) Once arrived at a conclusion, comes the task
of application. In effect, what do we choose to do with it. That’s the awesome
power of authenticity; a moment by moment choice to adapt beliefs by
experiential facts, or be frustrated by illusions that resist the here-and-now
facts. Nothing real can be threatened.
To work through those conflicting
options is the true gift of presence. Your gift to the world is your
peace. If you experience pain, then that is the sign there is conflict, and
guess who owns it?
Go and be helpful. It is what we all aspire. Do not confuse resignation with
surrender. You are not powerless, and telling yourself that you are will
only cause the pain of which I speak. Remember the point of view Heidegger offer us to consider. http://www.angelfire.com/md2/timewarp/heidegger.html Being-in-the-world, present at hand, and ready at hand are all degrees of our orientation in.
